WINTER JACKET GUIDE
It is officially that time of year where leaving your house without a jacket is not an option. While a lot of people look at this as a negative, keep in mind that you do not need to settle for a big, puffy coat to ward off the chilly winds if that is not your style or if you find that to be uncomfortable. There is a vast variety of winter jackets and coats on the market that do keep you warm but are also super stylish.
Denim
Definitely the lightest option in terms of a "winter jacket", but ideal for those who experience a warmer winter or for those who just do not like the feeling of a heavy winter jacket. The best part about a denim jacket is that if you buy it slightly oversized it is the best jacket for layering. You can wear a chunky sweater underneath, a cozy flannel, you can even add a scarf as well and still be super warm without feeling too bundled up.
Leather
Leather jackets are such a staple because they are pretty much wearable all year long, aside from the summertime. A leather jacket is another great option if you want to layer. However, depending on the quality, a leather jacket can be quite heavy. So, if it is lightweight or heavyweight, you can opt for a sweater underneath or just a simple tee-shirt. Leather jackets are super chic and can be worn with everything.
Trench Coat
A trench coat is a menswear staple that has been all over the fashion week runways the last few seasons. There are so many versions of the trench coat: short ones, long ones, lined or unlined, cotton or wool, they even make weatherproof ones. They also come in prints and solids. You can wear a trench coat with leggings and sneakers or a dress and boots making it an ideal choice to invest in this winter.
Puffer
Not to be confused with a parka, a puffer jacket offers a variety of lengths, from cropped, hip-length to floor-length. These jackets can have an iridescent or matte finish, with little to no padding or down-filled. Being that there are so many different styles of puffer jackets, almost anyone can find one that fits their style. The quilted down puffers are great for bearing the wind, while more lightweight ones are great for running errands on a chillier morning.
Parka
The heaviest winter jacket option is for sure a parka. Parkas usually come in neutral colors such as tan, army green, black, navy and almost always come with a detachable fur hood, real or faux depending on your preference. Whether you invest in a high end one, like Canada Goose or are looking for a good parka on the cheaper side, definitely check out Zara, North Face or even Calvin Klein. No matter what brand you choose, there is no question that this jacket will keep you warm this coming winter season.
As previously mentioned, no matter what brand you opt for, whether it is high end or moderately priced, winter jackets are all over the place and are available in so many different styles that you are certain to find one that not only suits your own personal style but keeps you warm in the harshest of the winter weather.
