VINTAGE TRENDS THAT MADE A COMEBACK

If anything is one hundred percent certain about fashion, it is that trends are ever-changing. New trends and styles are constantly coming in and out of the mainstream, and most of us are just trying to stay up to speed. How are we supposed to keep up and afford an entirely new wardrobe every season if it just keeps changing? Well, here is a little secret, fashion is a never-ending cycle. What is old, will undoubtedly become new again. This is why you should never throw away your favorite pieces. If they fit and flatter you but have gone out of style, store them away in a box in the for a few years, and they just might make a style comeback. Keep reading to check out some of the vintage styles that have fallen off but have returned in all of their trendy, vintage glory.

Crop Tops

Believe it or not, the style of shirt that we have been seeing all over the market for pretty much our entire lives traces all the way back to the 1930s and 1940s. The reason it was so popular back in the day is that two-piece matching sets were all the rave for women back then. Designers have been reinventing the crop top ever since and these trendy pieces have come back every single decade in new and different versions. Now, it is hard to find tops that are not cropped!

Aviator Sunglasses

Aviator sunglasses, or “pilot’s glasses,” were originally developed in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb for pilots to protect their eyes while flying, hence the name aviator. Some view aviators as the ultimate “hipster” style of sunglasses but we beg to differ. Aviators are truly versatile. They are just as attractive on a woman as they are deeply masculine on a man. And you definitely do not need to live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and ride the L train to rock them. They go with all looks and are available in almost every color combination you can think of!

Black Leather Jackets

Once upon a time, punks and motorcyclists were the only ones seen wearing black leather jackets with metal hardware. The black leather jacket became the symbol of cool when the mid-century rolled around, it was a true fashion movement in the 1950s. Today, leather jackets are a street style staple, they are sold in all stores at different price points and seen in the majority of fashion shows when fashion week rolls around. And we are certain that every woman and man either owns, has owned, or will own a leather jacket in their lifetime. And if not, get on it!

Bell-Bottom Pants

The 1970’s are officially coming back. For the majority of the last decade, we have basically clung to skinny jeans for life support. With the turn of the decade, it looks like the skinny trend is finally biting the dust. While straight leg jeans have been all the rave for the last number of seasons, a resurrection of the wide-legged pant happened a few years back, and now, the flared jeans have been making an appearance in more than one fashionista’s closet. The keyword here is pants, not just jeans. Therefore, whether it is a casual weekend look or a special occasion you can still rock this trend.

Platform Shoes

Disco lovers in the 1970’s were all about the platform shoes. They were widespread among both genders all over the world back in the day. Elton John and glam rockers were notable wearers of this heightened shoe style, but now platforms have made a comeback, and the stage isn’t the only place to find them anymore. Today you can find platform boots, sneakers, sandals, slides, you name it. The platform shoe has really become a modern-day style for women.

We hope that we have given you some insight on some trends that you might already have stowed away in your closet. Keeping in mind that most trends never die, you will be ahead of the game without having to spend any of your hard-earned paychecks on a new version of something you already own!
