PRACTICING THE ART OF SELF LOVE

Learning to love yourself is one of the most powerful and important things one can do in life. While some cringe at the sound of the term self-love, it really is something that everyone should take time out of their day to practice. The more you incorporate it into your life, the more it will become second nature and apart of who you are. You would be surprised at how your relationships, career, overall health, and more flourish when you start to truly love yourself.  A lot of people struggle with not exactly knowing how to love themselves and we are here to give you a few ways to at least start practicing the art of self-love.

Put your body first


In the process of achieving self-love, it is so important to prioritize our bodies. How we feel in our body directly affects how we feel overall in ourselves as a person. Feeling a disconnect or unhappiness in our body often stems from a lack of love within ourselves. You want to keep your body feeling full of life and vitality at all times. Make sure you take the time to do the things that make your body feel its best. Whether it be walking, stretching, dancing, you name it. Whether it is five minutes a day or fifty, find the time!

Gratitude journals

 

There is a reason that self-love and gratitude books/journals have become so overwhelmingly popular over the last few years. It’s because they work! It has been proven that something as simple as writing down five things you are grateful for each day can totally transform your mental state. It can train your brain to be more positive which results in an overall feeling of genuine happiness. Try this out and see how much of a difference it makes in just a short period of time. 

Take yourself out of a date

 

 

If you have never taken yourself out on a date before then make it your priority in the next month or so that you do. This is about spending quality time with yourself and doing something special, just for you and only you. It truly can be one of the most rewarding and also fun things you can do while on a journey to self-love. Treat yourself to a coffee and a special treat at your favorite breakfast spot or book a facial or massage. The beauty of this is that you get to choose what you want and not have to listen to anyone else’s opinion!

Express Yourself

 

 

It is super important to find ways to truly express yourself and embrace the ability to be unapologetically you. It could be singing, dancing, painting, or cooking, everyone has something that just does it for them. Believe it or not, it is often something we did naturally as kids. If you truly struggle to think of something, then look at this as an opportunity to either discover or re-discover a passion of yours. And trust us, once you find it, you will know.
