PLAYING WITH PLAIDS
We all know that one of the best parts about fall is the fashion. There are so many awesome trends and styles that come back in season that were not exactly socially acceptable to wear during the warmer months. Specifically, plaid. Flannels can definitely be worn all year round, whether they are to keep you warm on a cool summer night or used for layering in the winter. But, there is something about plaids in the fall that just makes sense. Another perk of plaids in the fall is that you can wear a standard flannel with jeans, a plaid blazer, plaid printed trousers, even a full plaid suit. No matter where you shop you are sure to find an array of plaid options.
Flannels
The great thing about a simple flannel is that they come in basically every color combination you could possibly think of. They also come in high-low silhouettes, cropped, fitted, boyfriend style, you name it. You can wear an oversized one with leggings and sneakers to stay comfortable or tuck in a more fitted one into a pair of jeans or trousers for a more chic, put-together look. Another cool tip is to throw a crew neck sweater over one and just have the collar stick out to achieve that cool, effortless, layered look.
Blazers
A huge fall staple this season has been blazers. Much like the standard flannel, you can also find these pieces in several different colors and fits. Again, you can either go oversized or keep it more slim fitted depending on your own personal style and what you are pairing it with. We also totally support a full plaid moment, so if you are feeling daring why not pair one with some plaid trousers? The cool thing about plaid is that mixing them can look super cool. So if you are feeling daring, do not think too much into it when mixing and matching plaid pieces together.
Trousers
Plaid printed trousers have been a super fashion-forward fall staple for quite a few seasons now. Tapered leg, wide leg, cropped or flared, these kinds of pants are being seen everywhere. Being that they come in all different lengths, cuts, and rises, you can style them so many different ways. Between us, you could totally get away with rocking the same pair twice in one week because of how versatile they are. People will not even notice! Plus, an added bonus to rocking a pair of these is that they are super comfortable.
Accessories
If plaid is not totally your thing but you want to start trickling it into your wardrobe, start off by incorporating some plaid printed accessories into your outfits! Plaid scarves are super popular, not only do they look cute and cozy, but they can really add a pop of color to a neutral-colored fit. Bakers boy or fiddler caps have been a hot commodity for the last couple of seasons and they come in a bunch of different plaids. Again, keep your outfit on the more neutral side and throw one of these on to add that plaid but also keep it subtle.
The possibilities are honestly endless when it comes to plaid in the fall. We advise to not be afraid to branch out, get creative, and start thinking of unique ways to rock falls’ print of choice!
