MAKING BASICS LOOK NOT SO BASIC

The beauty of basic wardrobe pieces is that they are easily attainable, affordable, and extremely versatile, meaning you can wear them with anything, hence why they are referred to as basics. However, we all know the struggle of wearing basics and feeling just a little too basic. We are here to offer some tips on how to make these basic pieces and lookS feel not so basic!

It’s All About The Shoes

Rule of thumb for most outfits, especially “basic” outfits, is emphasis on the shoes. Shoes can absolutely make or break an outfit. When you’re donning a simplistic look, they have the ability to take it to the next level. If you are wearing a neutral-colored outfit, for example, a pair of jeans and a plain top, remember to incorporate a pop of color or unique aesthetic in your shoes, whether it is a pair of trendy mules or a comfortable sneaker.

Add-In A Statement Piece

Including a single statement piece into your basic outfit is a great way to spice it up. It can be a purse, a pair of sunglasses, a jacket if the weather calls for it. A really cool statement piece of jewelry, for example, a pair of earrings or a bold necklace can be an awesome way to add some interest to your outfit as well.

Try A Trend

If you are feeling as though your outfit could use a bit of an upgrade, try and incorporate a piece that is fabulously on trend. When it comes too tops, square neck blouses and off the shoulder tops are definitely in fashion, especially for the summertime. If you find yourself wearing skinny jeans often, go for a straight leg pair instead. Straight leg jeans can be worn with any shoe and complement any top.

Layer Up

In the fall and winter, layering is key to looking cute and also staying warm. It is also a great way to add a little bit more to your looks. Again, if you find yourself in a basic solid colored t-shirt and jeans or jean shorts, think about adding a cute and cozy cardigan or a blazer that will be able to add a different dynamic to the look. People will not even notice that your basics are just a t-shirt and jeans.

Nail Your Hair & Makeup

Something a little more beauty related, speaking especially for a night out, think about using your beauty routine as an accessory. Style your basic essentials and items you feel the most comfortable in and spend a little extra time on your hair and/or makeup. You can make a standard outfit look so chic with a slicked back bun or high-pony tail and if your makeup is on point, your entire look will be too.

These are only a few pointers to help elevate your white tee and cut-off denim. During the summer when the heat calls for breathable and minimalistic attire, these tips can help you to find pieces that will create a statement. However, even in the summer, the nights can bring a chill calling for you to layer up with a cozy sweater, keeping it comfortable and fashionable.
