DRESSING FOR YOUR BODY TYPE

We all know what outfits help us to feel our best and accentuate our personality and figure. Whether you have a go-to dress that makes you feel your absolute best or a wide-leg trouser. While it is convenient to have your staples, it doesn’t hurt to expand your horizons and add to your list of go-to pieces and find new trends that continue to help you feel your best.

Accentuate your legs

When you want to accentuate your legs, look for either a shorter dress or skirt or a pair of elongating flare pants or jeans. As for shoes, find a pair of heels that you are comfortable in, match your skin tone and you will give the illusion that you have mile-long legs.

Accentuate your curves

Instead of being quick to hide your curves, experiment with highlighting them instead. You can do this by accentuating your waist. A great way to do this is to cinch your waist with a belt. A fit and flare dress is another design that emphasizes your hourglass figure. If it’s a colder evening, a belted jacket is a great way to achieve this look as well.

Accentuate your upper body

A-line dresses and skirts are a great way to accentuate your upper body, think about adding an embellished or printed tops because they draw extra attention to your upper body. If you want to both highlight your top half and draw less attention to your lower half, this is a great way to do so.

Creating the illusion of curves

If you are smaller framed and want to give the illusion of curves, dresses with side cutouts will make your waist look smaller compared to your hips and bust, creating an hourglass-like figure. Sweetheart necklines also help create the illusion of an overall larger bust.

Creating overall shape

For those with athletic body types, your bust, waist, and hips are generally of similar proportions. If you would like to create an illusion of more shapes and curves to your body, you can easily do so with flowy styles. Either a flowy top with skinny jeans or leggings or the opposite, a tight top with a flowy skirt or pants will help you achieve your desired shape.

Our main advice for all of you, thrifty fashionistas, is to be bold, be brave, love yourself, and do not hesitate to experiment and play with your clothes. You wear the clothes, not the other way around. So wear them how you want it, try different styles, mix, and match until you find outfits that meet your mood, personality, unique style, and body type.
